Book Group

The book group meets regularly. It is an opportunity for members to discuss the books they have read (adult, young adult or children's fiction).  Just come along when you can.  More information can be found here.

Each year the CBCA, SA Branch holds an evening where local literature lovers share the titles they think will be Short Listed for Book of the Year Awards.

Join us to explore the best in Children's Literature published during 2016, with amazing presenters who have a passion for literature.

Champion Pics Competition for School Students

 

    

Who can enter? The competition is open to all school students (R-9) in SA.

What do entrants need to do?

Working individually, students select a shortlisted book from the Early Childhood or Picture Book Categories and create a visual presentation, no larger than A3 in size.

The presentation is an opportunity for students to show their response to literature: share their feelings and thoughts about the events and characters, or draw connections between personal experiences and the text, or reflect on the language used in the text and its influence on personal response.

Students can use any media.

When is it due?

All entries are due by Friday 8th September 2017.

The winners will be announced Wednesday 13th September 2017.

Entry is free.

What are the Prizes?

R-2 prize: Breakfast with a South Australian author

3-5prize: Breakfast with a South Australian author

6-7prize: Breakfast with a South Australian author

8-9 prize: Breakfast with a South Australian author

Each winner will also receive a book bundle their school library.

70th Anniversary Reception

CELEBRATE 70 YEARS OF THE CHILDREN’S BOOK COUNCIL OF AUSTRALIA

 

The Lord Mayoral Morning Tea celebrates the 70th Anniversary of the CBCA.

 

The celebrations will begin at 11am and end at midday following the announcement of the CBCA Book Awards.

The SA Branch of the CBCA will compile a guest list over the next few weeks.
